Iran to woo travlers in 2016

In the quiet of my house I have plenty of time to think of this valuable experience in a country burdened by a reputation that does not do it justice. If they had told me that the Iranians are a people so kind I would not have believed. Given that English is widespread, we were constantly challenged to be people smiling street, both men and women, and especially young people and children, involving us to take a picture where we came from or simply wished us “welcome in Iran “and they tried to chat. Stunning, stylish women shrouded in black chador covering her down to the ground, but also girls dressed with a simple scarf not infrequently colored and lively, led to leave uncovered much of the hair without breaking the law; I who have so suffered from the heat, I wondered how they could bear such a “torture.” Public life offers little opportunity for recreation so young invented recreational situations far from prying eyes by organizing private parties.

For women, these holidays are the perfect opportunity to express their femininity. For one night can wear colorful dresses, low-cut, very showy and free hairstyles show off the veil, only to return the next day, like Cinderella at the request sobriety. The attention to aesthetics sometimes reaches manic levels, probably as a response to the sobriety imposed from above. Resort to a very marked makeup and cosmetic surgery of the nose is very common; postoperative patch instead of generating unease, typical causes that pride of those who are aligned to a status symbol. Everywhere we met friendly and charming people in a rich ancient culture and environment .

A religious power that, through the civil, oppresses and enchants a particularly friendly people, helpful, warm and outgoing. Iran is very different from how I imagined: the cities are modern and clean, the electronics is widespread, habitual use of air conditioners, countless free distributors of chilled water, good roads and highways with three lanes in each direction, the people are the most friendly ever known, but billboards, murals and pictures of religious leaders and the “heroes” are ubiquitous to remember …
We never used the umbrellas, it was indeed me off guard. obviously very hot but dry weather, temperatures have also reached the forty-five degrees during the day, maybe more, but in the evening pleasant. The atmosphere is impregnated with a fine powder which deposited on everything and prevents to breathe freely; It is everywhere in the absence of precipitation for a long time. For extreme heat after lunch and into the afternoon, the shops are closed and there were few people around, but at night the streets and the gardens are animated until late. The Iranians spread on the green lawns of parks and organize a carpet outdoor picnic to enjoy the cool of the evening. The public gardens, clean and well cared for, are their pride and lung highly polluted cities. The commercial center is the bazaar, a place of great vitality, microcosm of smells, tastes, sounds and colors, where everything is sold and purchased, so large as to be virtually a city in itself. We “lost” in that of Tehran, Shiraz and Isfahan. Long kilometers of corridors, real labyrinths, magic universes that involve the visitor.

Divided into streets, in each of which takes place a different activity: the gold road, carpets, etc. of copper. In addition to the shops, you will find unexpected corners with mosques, hidden gardens and shady, dining options. The architecture, as in any part of the world, has been influenced by historical events, religious and cultural since an era dating back to at least 5000 BC The most significant influence on the architectural styles was that exerted before the religion of Zarathustra and then Islam. Most of the larger buildings were built for religious purposes, even the Christian churches have often included Islamic elements, but the influences of religion are also evident in the buildings to other uses.

When you travel to Iran you see the mosques are everywhere in the world the symbol of Islam. Its forms can be very varied; generally consist of a large open central space, where they grow trees and flowers around a fountain and a large main entrance, flanked by minarets cylindrical tapered toward the top and covered with colored tiles or mosaics, which opens on the side facing Mecca and it introduces into a shrine covered by a dome. On the other three sides of the central space there are arcades and loggias. The Shiite Islam is very focused on the personal cult of saints and martyrs, therefore, mausoleums and tombs are very frequent in almost all cities. There are other types of building: from tea shops, the marvelous pavilions in the gardens, for some of the most majestic structures the world has been able to see and caravanserais that, over the centuries, were built along the Silk Road and is used as hotels for parking, both as a storage warehouses for goods.

Various are the fundamental characteristics traceable: a marked ability for the shapes and proportions; a brilliant taste in decoration, structural inventiveness, especially in the construction of vaults and domes. The plans are also for the most part dealt with symmetrical arrangement, with repetitive geometric patterns and richly decorated surfaces with tiled windows, mosaics and mirrors, carved stucco, brick patterns, floral and calligraphic. The use of construction materials available guided in a decisive way the main forms.

The availability of clay, easily retrievable, encouraged the most primitive of all the construction techniques, with mud molded, compressed and dried in the sun to get bricks. The clay used has not yet been completely abandoned in the recovery of ancient villages; in combination with straw and in animal dung is a highly insulating plaster, although poor resistance to wind and rain, however, that in these areas are very scarce. The ancient center of Isfahan and the village of Abyaneh, which we visited, are an example of application of this technique come down to us because they applied at sites declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site and, therefore, I think, subject to constraints such as the use of old materials for storage. In the last resort the result of a reddish color is given by the fact that the mountains around, from which the route was the clay, are rich in ferrous material
